Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old sister science to the more widely known science of Yoga.  Ayurveda literally means “the knowledge of life”.  It is a holistic health care system which incorporates the use of every aspect of life in order to assist our bodies in finding the way into our individual balance.  When we find balance, we find health.

Through her Ayurvedic workshops and one-to-one trainings, Carin helps each individual to connect to the innate wisdom that lies within each of us.  She clearly and humorously educates about the 5 elements, their existence within us and within everything around us.  She then guides each person to an understanding of their own unique nature and how to use what is around them in order to help find and maintain their own personal balance.

Offerings

Personal Ayurvedic Consultation

The consultation consists of two meetings.   The first meeting is used to help determine the constitution and imbalance of the client and the second is to discuss determinations and recommendations suggested to assist in restoring balance.  Methods suggested may include diet, pranayama, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy, meditation, aromatherapy and Ayurvedic Bliss Therapy Treatments.

 Ayurvedic Bliss Therapy Treatments:

Ayurvedic Bliss Therapy treatments restore balance to body and mind.  It is recommended to begin with a Personal Ayurvedic Consultation in order to deepen your awareness in preparation for these treatments.

Abhyanga Chikitsa – 60 minutes

The Abhyanga begins with a brief consult to determine current imbalance in the body.  It is an ayurvedic full body massage which is tailored to the individual using specific base oils, essential oils and strokes within the treatment to assist in restoring balance.

Abhyanga and Shirodhara Chikitsa – 90 minutes

The Abhyanga is immediately followed by the Shirodhara where streaming oil is poured gently on the forehead to reduce excess activity in the mind.  The treatment helps to calm the mind and release patterns stored there.  Successive treatments help to induce deeper states of stillness.

Abhyanga and Nasya Chikitsa – 90 minutes

The Abhyanga is immediately followed by Nasya where oil is delicately introduced into the nasal passages to treat imbalances of the head and the mind.  Nasya cleanses and nourishes the nasal passages (the gateway to the brain), removes toxins and allows prana to flow more easily.  Used primarily for imbalances of the head, neck and shoulders.

Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy – 60 or 90 minutes

This is an individualized yoga session that begins with a brief consultation to determine the current state of imbalance in the body.  The session utilizes the principles of Ayurveda along with the practice of yoga, focusing on specific poses and intention within the practice to help restore balance.  It is recommended to begin with a Personal Ayurvedic Consultation in order to deepen your awareness in preparation for this session.
